One Is One and All Alone - The Most Important Incident (Sample Answer)

One Is One and All Alone – The Most Important Incident (Sample Answer)

I have selected the short story entitled ‘One Is One and All Alone’ written by Nicholas Fisk in order to answer the question. The short story tells about a girl named Trish who travels to Planet Trion in a spaceship in 2045. She clones herself in the BioLab and Clo who is her clone becomes her companion. However, the twist happens when Trish is disposed by her own clone.

The important incident in the short story is when Trish clones herself in the BioLab to produce Clo, who is her clone. This incident is important due to several reasons First and foremost, this incident shows that Trish is a clever person. She learns about clone and cloning from VoicePrinter and she attempts to clone herself. Finally she succeeds in cloning herself. In addition to this, the incident is important because Trish solves her problem of being lonely. She clones Clo who becomes her perfect companion. Trish’s life becomes more colourful and meaningful with Clo’s existence. Last but not least, the incident is important because it conveys the moral value of to think twice before we act. Trish does not think twice when she decides to clone and later to dispose Clo by using the spaceship disposal system. She clones Clo without thinking of the consequences. She forgets that Clo thinks the same thing as her too. Trish has the bad thought to dispose Clo through the hatch. In the end, Trish does not think of the consequences of her actions and Clo  outsmarts her and disposes her. Therefore, we must think twice before doing something.

In conclusion, the important incident in the short story is when Trish clones herself in the BioLab to produce clo, who is her clone due to the above reasons. We are to think carefully before we take certain actions. I do not want to end up like Trish in the short story.
