Design a suitable and interesting activity for the selected stage. Give a description of the activity.
Pre listening stage
DeleteNarrate some basic instructions about animal characters and what they are doing. Have your pupils listen and move the characters along to the story.
Practice Stage
ReplyDeleteTeacher can prepare some pictures on the white board. Tell them some description of the picture, then ask some pupils to point out the picture based on the description. By this way, pupils can choose the picture accurately based on the their listening skills.
Post Listening (Production) stage.
ReplyDeleteDuring this activity, the teacher will provide an audio for example a simple dialogue and jumbled scripts of the dialogue. After the pupils listen to the dialogue, they have to rearrange the scripts in a group. After that, the pupils will have to present their dialogue once they have had finished arranging the scripts.
Listening (Practice) Stage
ReplyDeleteThe students will first be divided into groups. Then, the teacher will show the students a short video clip about two or more people having a conversation. After watching the video clip, the teacher will make several statements about the content of the video clip. The students are required to say whether the statements are true or false. For every correct answer, a point will be given to the group. The group with the most points wins.

Target Group: Year 4
Teaching Aids:
-Colorful Big Envelopes
-Short animated Video Clips
The pupils will be divided into several groups. The teacher will prepare the colorful and big envelope and ask the pupils to choose for the envelopes. There is a short paragraph about any suitable and interesting topic for them. The teacher will read the short paragraph for them and is aided by the interesting short animated video clip. Give the pupils several minutes to understand the topic and discuss with their group members. The teacher will ask for several questions regarding to the topic that is given in the short paragraph. Measure their understanding based on their answers. Reward them with praises and encouragement after succeeding in answering the questions. Give marks for every correct answer and the group with most marks will win.
Post Listening (Production) Stage
ReplyDeleteAn audio clip will be played for the students to listen. It could be of a conversation or any dialogue. The pupils will work in pairs and they will be required to identify the message that is conveyed. They will represent the message in their own way.
Pre listening stage

Instructions :- Play the animal sounds, one by one. In the first round, ask them to guess what animal it is.In the second round, play the sounds again and this time tell them the animals that make the sounds. repeat as necessary.

For example group 1 is to list down names of animals and so on. The teacher will be reading a passage where the students have to list down everytime they hear the names of a colour, animals or plants according to their respective groups.

ReplyDeleteThe pupils will be asked to listen to an audio of a short story. The audio will be repeated twice. Then, the teacher will play another audio of the short story, but with some words left out from it. The pupils will then be needed to determine the missing words and list them out on a paper. This activity will boosts the pupils' listening skills as the pupils need to pay full attention and focus to the audio so that they can determine the words that are missing.
Post listening
ReplyDeleteDuring this stage, let the pupils listen to a short audio about a conversation. Then divide the pupils in groups of four. The pupils required to write the conversation on a piece of paper which will be given by the teacher. Two representatives from each group need to role play the conversation in front of the class.

ReplyDeleteTarget class : Year 5.
Activity : Pupils will be divided into 5 group. Each group will be given a specific topic. For example group 1, favorite toys, group 2, hobby, group 3, favorite foods, group 4, best friend, group 5, ambition. They will be asked to converse between themselves about the topic given. The pupils can freely converse because the topic given is familiar to them and to encourage their speaking skills.

ReplyDeleteFor the activity. First, divide the pupils into group. Then let them listen to the conversation twice. After that, ask them to discuss about the main point and the mood of the conversation. Then ask them to present a short role play about the mood from the conversation that they listened.

ReplyDeleteThe teacher calls a student and tells her a word. The student has to listen to the teacher carefully. The student then acts that word out for other students. The student will not speak but listen to the teacher carefully. The children have to guess what the word would be.

For example, group 1 has to read the passage out loud in front of the class and ask questions to other groups. They have to focus and listen very well in order to answer the questions.

ReplyDeleteA song about different animals will be played for the students to listen. Pupils will be divided in groups so they could think and work together to identify the characteristics of the animals mentioned in the song. They will present their findings.

The learners are going to listen to a cassette recording about tigers. After that, they work in groups to pool their knowledge about tigers' characteristics. Later, they will tell the rest of the class about their findings.
Presentation stage
ReplyDeleteTeacher shows the video about my garden. Pupils listen to song and sing together with the music. After that, they work in groups to enhance their about garden's characteristics. Credit will be given to the group. The group with the most points wins.
Post Listening (production) stage
ReplyDeleteDivide pupils into groups. Show a TV programme regarding dental care. Each group has to post 5 questions to other groups about the topic presented. The answer given will be rewarded with 5 points. Group with most points win
